Department of "general pedagogy and psychology"
The Department of Psychology and special pedagogy of the South Kazakhstan University named after M. Auezov is an educational and research structure with a qualified teaching staff, a modern educational base and a high level of Education.
The department was created by combining two departments" modern pedagogy and psychology "and" psychology and special pedagogy".
The Department of" modern pedagogy and psychology " has been operating since the establishment of the South Kazakhstan State University named after M. Auezov in May 1998. A great contribution to the formation and development of the department was made by the academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Kalybekova Asma Akhmetovna, who headed the department from 1998 to 2011. Kalybekova Asma Akhmetovna laid her rich experience, deep scientific knowledge and organizational skills at the heart of the fruitful activity of the Department. Under his leadership, 5 doctors of Pedagogical Sciences, 35 candidates of Pedagogical Sciences, 38 masters of Pedagogical Sciences prepared and successfully defended their dissertations.
The opening of the Department of psychology and special pedagogy is associated with the period of reorganization of a number of universities in the region and the merger of three universities into the South Kazakhstan humanitarian university named after M. Auezov in 1996.
The department was headed by Doctor of Psychological Sciences, acting professor Iskakovam.S., PhD Shalkharbekova N., PhD Sakhieva F. A., doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, acting professor Kabylbekova Z. B., doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Arymbaeva K. M., candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor Buletova L. A. headed at different stages.
Currently, the Department of" general pedagogy and psychology " is headed by PhD, associate professor Usenova a.m.
At all stages since the establishment of the department, educational programs of Bachelor's and master's degrees, doctoral programs: 6b03130 - "Psychology", 6B01910 - " Defectology (speech therapy)", 6B01912- "Sign Language Therapy", 6B01112 – "psychology and mediation", 6B01111-"practical psychology", 6B01110-"pedagogy and psychology"; Training of specialists in the educational programs 7M01110 - "management in education", 7M03130-"Psychology", 7M010300-"pedagogy and psychology"is carried out.In the 2017-2018 academic year, the specialty 7d010300 – "pedagogy and psychology" was opened.More than 300 undergraduates and 16 doctoral students studied and graduated. Doctoral students Polatova S. D. and Akhmetova E. K. successfully defended their dissertations.
In 2023, the department developed new educational programs "6b03130-training of psychologists-consultants in the social sphere" and 6b01900-special pedagogy, special pedagogy includes 4 areas: Speech Therapy, sign language therapy, typhlopedagogy, oligophrenopedagogy.
The best students in academic mobility study at universities in Poland, Russia and Kazakhstan. Undergraduates undergo internships at universities in Russia, Germany, Turkey.
Every year, students and undergraduates participate in scientific and practical conferences. The department operates student scientific communities (SSS)" psychologist "and" special teacher". In addition, teams of the best students take part in the Republican subject Olympiads.
Currently, education is conducted in the state, Russian and English languages. Classes in disciplines are conducted by 2 doctors of psychological sciences, 3 doctors of Pedagogical Sciences, 10 candidates of pedagogical and psychological sciences, 3 PhD Doctors, 20 Masters.
At the department, the winners of the grant "the best teacher of a higher educational institution" (PS.doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Lekerova G. zh., Index Hirsch-3; Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Zholdasbekov A. A., Index Hirsch-3; Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, acting professor Kabylbekova Z. B., PS.the authors of scientific papers published in publications included in the Scopus database with a high percentage index (doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Almetov N. Sh., PhD, associate professor Usenova a.m., PhD Sakhieva F. A. and others)teach.

In 2022, the Student Club" leader "was created and is actively working at the Department of Psychology and special pedagogy.

Training of professionally competent, competitive psychologists and special teachers who predict the prospects for the development of psychological, special and inclusive education, understand the importance of their profession, the values and educational needs of Kazakhstan's society, taking into account the requirements of stakeholders (stakeholders).
